  • Tattoo Design Inspiration And Research

A tattoo and the design, in my opinion is an extremely personnel thing, getting marked on the body is not something you should do lightly. I have seen dozens of people go out, get a tattoo on a whim, and live to regret it. In all honesty, most tattooists although most are highly skilled artists lack the passion to come up with something new and exiting for every customer. they fall back to the same set of flash books they have had for years producing the same old tats year in year out. Unless your tattooist is truly in the top ten percent for passion for the art it's going to be down to you buddy, to find the artwork

    Tattoo mistakes people make

Unless you’re a total looser you would never pick a tattoo on a whim from the first place you see. You need to look around.

Getting the perfect tattoos can be a painful process and I am not just talking about being inked. All the searching, the hassle of it all going from one tattoo place to another looking at their flash books and not seeing anything you like. On to the next tattoo parlor and then you have enough of all the crap, getting a tattoo was supposed to be easy. Then you do the UNTHINKABLE you settle for something that's not quite right but you have that second rate tat anyway.

Your sitting there in the tattoo chair he's starting up his gun and your looking at the transfer in the mirror and the brains saying " I'm not sure" but what do you do? you ignore it that inner voice. You numb skull!

If the situation that I've just described sounds a little close to home - I am so sorry.

I'm sorry I wasn't around to point you in the right direction to find the perfect tattoo before you made the big mistake. Oh and I'm sorry you’re a numb skull

Getting a tattoo design that is unique

Well my friend that’s where you have to do some research. If you are truly passionate about having a work of art inked into your skin then you need to find the piece of art that inspires you so you can inspire your tattoo artist to his or hers full greatness.

    Where to find tattoo designs

  • Design Your Own Tattoo and Create a Work of Art That is Original and Meaningful

Creating your own tattoo design should be an enjoyable and inspiring experience. Unfortunately, many people end up frustrated and burnt out trying to sort through the thousands and thousands of options available. Where do you start? Here's some advice on how to sort through the sea of images out there.... and design your own tattoo that is truly a statement of your unique personality.

Here are some examples of some of the more popular symbols and styles available. This is only a partial list, but it should give you some ideas of combinations you can possibly use.

Cross tattoos. Celtic and Christian styles are some of the favorites.

Star tattoos. Can be designed to look masculine or feminine and are usually smaller. Nautical stars and shooting stars are some of the favorites.

Skull tattoos. These have an old school vibe. Anything retro tends to stay timeless and is always a good choice.

Heart tattoos. Again, this is often an old school style but there are a ton of modern variations. Often used in combination with a loved one's name.

Dragon tattoos. Tribal and Chinese styles look great.

Fairy tattoos. Feminine energy, these tattoos combine well with butterfly, moon and flower designs.

Butterfly tattoos. Again, a feminine tattoo. Tribal style is in vogue right now.

Flower tattoos. Popular choices are Hawaiian, cherry blossom, lotus flower, rose, and tribal flower styles.

Angel tattoos. Guardian angel or angel wings are popular choices.

When looking for tattoo artwork to use, try to stay away from the websites that offer thousand of free designs. Most of these designs are terribly outdated and generic.

Your best bet is to find a website that offers fresh, unique art work created by professional tattoo artists. These sites will be set up in way that allows you to easily and quickly search the multiple categories and design your own tattoo. Once you've found some combinations you like, you can print them out and stencil them onto your skin. This will give you a good idea of what the real tattoo will look like.

  • Scary Pictures of Skull Tattoos

Some people, when they decide on a design for a tattoo may choose to have a picture of skull tattoo applied to their body. Many tattoo shop customers choose this sort of design especially if they like designs that are a little macabre or odd. Skulls, crossed bones and other scary tattoos have been popular with tattoo shop customers for as long as tattoos have been around. Having images as tattoos that have something to do with death, such as a skull, shows others that the customer isn’t afraid of death or that he or she is filled with life and has no time for thoughts of death.

Many skull designs have other elements added to them to create new and unique tattoo designs. Sometimes it’s a banner that wraps around the skull and has someone’s name printed on it. Other times the skull is wrapped in flames or even flowers depending on the taste of the customer. Many tattoo shop customers want to have a skull tattoo to show that they like to live life on the edge a bit maybe. This is especially true of those people who enjoy dangerous sports or hobbies and who want to show everyone else that they’re not afraid. Skull tattoos aren’t just for male customers though. Many women have skull tattoos on their bodies, perhaps with flowers around the design or the skull might be smiling or a little more light-hearted than the male customer’s version of the design.

The skull design that some people may bring to the tattoo shop artist may have been found in a search online going through web site databases of images. Once the customer finds an image that might look nice as a tattoo design, they take that image to the tattoo artist and have a sketch made of a unique design that has the skull image in it. The design may be altered and modified to more closely match the idea that the customer has for the tattoo, with some line or color changes.

Once the design is finalized and the artist is ready to begin, the choice of location on the customer’s body needs to be made. By using line sketch copies of the actual size tattoo design and placing it on various areas of the customer’s body, the tattoo artist can suggest what location may be best for the customer to have it. It’s important that the choice of location on the body doesn’t interfere with the person’s ability to do his job properly. Some companies have strict policies against visible tattoos showing on their employee’s bodies when dealing with the public. So be sure that it’s all right with your boss before you get any sort of visible tattoo.

  • Skull Tattoo Design - Locating Good Artwork of Skulls Online

A skull tattoo design can be one of the best choices there is, but as you may have noticed, finding quality artwork of skulls or anything online can be a pain. A lot of the designs on the internet are the same and bland, but there is a way around all of the generic art and I will show you what to watch out for when looking for your tattoos.

The first thing you need to realize when searching for your ultimate skull tattoo design has to do with how you are finding the websites that have the art. You shouldn't settle on a Google search, or artwork and designs from some random, cookie-cutter websites that happens to have a lot of tattoos. This is not very original or quality art. Most of the designs they have are over five or six years old and are plastered all over the internet, in every nook and cranny. Who knows how many people have seen that skull tattoo design already and how many people already have it inked on their skin? That's not what you want to settle for, especially when it comes to choosing skulls as one of your designs.

One more thing about the generic artwork from the cookie-cutter websites....

It has to do with the artists that are actually making the content that includes any given skull tattoo design at these places. A lot of the artists who are submitting the art are not very knowledgeable when it comes to making something that will look good once made into real-life tattoos. Sure, they may be good at what they do best, which his draw, but a lot of them have no clue what it takes to draw designs that will look anywhere close to good once it is inked onto someone's skin. This is especially crucial when it comes to a skull tattoo design, because they can be very detailed, as you may have noticed.

There is a way past all of that generic art though, while getting right to the quality skull tattoo design of your choice...

Finding quality art on the internet through the use of forums is an amazing tool, even when searching for something as specific as a skull tattoo design. You would not believe the amount of great information you will find in them when it comes to tattoos and the places that have original, top notch designs. I have used forums so many times when it comes to searching for good artwork that I have lost count and I have seen so many other people use them to their advantage also. What you have to realize is that people love to brag to others when they find a hidden gem, such as a website with original artwork. In this case it will be places that have a quality skull tattoo design database. There is not a better place on the web for people to share their findings with other folks than a forum and you can reap the benefits of their search.

Finding a quality skull tattoo design doesn't have to be hard anymore, and as a matter of fact, it can also be fun, so go ahead and find the original skulls and artwork you have been looking for online.
